Responsibilities
- 1. Assisting with Design Development
- Conceptualization: Assisting in brainstorming and conceptualizing new designs.
- Sketching: Creating sketches of designs and contributing ideas to design meetings.
- Mood Boards: Helping to create mood boards and inspiration boards to guide the design process.
- 2. Fabric and Material Selection
- Research: Researching current trends in fabrics and materials.
- Sample Collection: Assisting in sourcing and collecting fabric samples.
- Fabric Testing: Testing fabrics for suitability, durability, and aesthetics.
- 3. Pattern Making and Garment Construction
- Pattern Drafting: Assisting in drafting patterns based on design sketches.
- Sample Making: Helping to create sample garments.
- Fittings: Participating in fitting sessions and noting necessary adjustments.
- 4. Production Support
- Coordination: Coordinating with manufacturers and suppliers.
- Quality Control: Assisting in quality control checks to ensure the final product meets design specifications.
- Inventory Management: Managing and organizing materials and samples.
- 5. Market Research and Trend Analysis
- Trend Analysis: Analyzing fashion trends to inform design decisions.
- Competitor Analysis: Researching competitors' designs and strategies.
- Customer Feedback: Gathering and analyzing customer feedback to understand market needs.
- 6. Administrative and Logistical Support
- Documentation: Maintaining design documentation and records.
- Scheduling: Assisting with scheduling and managing timelines for projects.
- Communication: Handling communication with internal teams and external partners.
Requirements
Educational Background
- Enrolled in or Recently Graduated from a Relevant Program: Candidates should be pursuing or have recently completed a degree or diploma in fashion design, fashion merchandising, textile design, or a related field.
Skills
- Design Skills: Proficiency in sketching and illustrating fashion designs.
- Software Proficiency: Knowledge of design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and CAD tools.
- Technical Skills: Understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and fabric properties.
- Trend Awareness: Ability to research and analyze current fashion trends.
